E3 has come and gone, with tons of new games coming out from all 3 game industries. Although Sony announced a handful of new IPs provided more information on their Project Morpheus, many of the titles seem to slide out of the Fall 2015 time frame. Microsoft on the other hand, has a solid line-up of games during the fall months, which may result in an increase in sales for Xbox during the fall months.
Sony does have a triple a title slated for release in October, that title being Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. The only problem with this is that this is the only big title coming in the fall months for Playstation, and it’s not a brand new game, and is a remastered version of the series’ previous titles. While remasters aren’t terrible by any means, they won’t receive as much hype as a new title would. Not only this, but the upcoming remastered collection doesn’t have the online modes of any of the 3 games included, which was loved by many fans.
The Uncharted series made its first debut in 2007, making it a newer but by no means any weaker of a candidate than the games below. The series’ title, Uncharted 3: Among Thieves, is the highest rated game of the series so far, and is ranked 3rd-highest rated PS3 title on Metacritic, and has won numerous Game of the Year awards. The series trilogy has sold over 21 million copies worldwide as of June 2015.
While Sony has one remastered triple A title scheduled to release in October, Microsoft has 3 triple A titles scheduled for Fall 2015. Each game has each month covered as well, increasing the chance of a major sales increase for these months. Forza 6 is set to release September 15th, Halo 5: Guardians releasing October 27th, and Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled for a November 10th release. Another important thing to note about the upcoming Tomb Raider title is that the previous installments were released on both Xbox and Playstation, but now that the upcoming game is only available on the Xbox One, some may steer towards Xbox. With 3 solid titles lined up for the months of Fall, Xbox seems to have the market this Fall.
The Halo series has been around since November of 2001, and has held the hearts of millions of gamers since then. Each Halo game has outdone the other in sales, only improving as the games’ library continues to grow. Halo is currently a 3 billion dollar franchise with good reason. The Forza Motorsport series has been around since May of 2005. As of 2010, the games have sold over 10 million copies. The Forza series is a widely critically acclaimed racing game and is considered by most to be the best racing game series of all time. Tomb Raider was first introduce all the way back in 1996 and is still alive today. The Tomb Raider games have sold over 35 million units, making it one of the best-selling video game series of all time.
