Nintendo Wii U
You could put the Wii U’s ultimate fate on the shoulders of the next Zelda game, but we are unsure whether that game is coming or not. With Nintendo actually jumping into the console race that is that of the current-gen, with the project code named NX and a projected launch in 2016, it remains to be seen whether the Wii U actually gets a brand new Zelda or it waits to make the jump to the NX instead. So with that, the game that we know is coming to the Wii U instead that is a large first party game is StarFox Zero.
It has been a while since we’ve seen the animal-space cadets, with the last title in the series coming on the 3DS but being a remake of StarFox 64. However, this is the first new title in the longstanding Nintendo franchise since 2006. Can you believe 10 years!? Because of that, StarFox Zero is a chance for the series to get back on track and find its niche again. If it can’t, it will severely cripple the Wii U until the NX is launched. That is because it is the ONE title that we know will be a Nintendo exclusive for sure hitting the Wii U in 2016. Outside of it, there is nothing in the plans with much of Nintendo’s hand will be tipped in favor of supporting the new console.
No console developer has been able to successfully support two consoles for an elongated period of time, so if StarFox succeeds, and Nintendo has a couple of trick cards to throw our way, we may see the Wii U last just a bit longer. If not, the Wii U’s run will be over before we know it. Nothing like being in the bottom of the cellar.
