March Xbox One Backward Compatibility Predictions

XboxBackCompat

I don’t know about you but I squealed like a little girl when they announced that the Xbox One would be Backwards Compatible at E3 2015. And now that it’s been out for a few months, I can honestly say it works really well. And in the few months that it’s been out, more than 130 Xbox 360 titles have been made available, with more being added each month at no extra cost to the players. So with March just around the corner, let’s make some predictions for the next batch of games to join the list.

Right now if you were to look on Xbox.com you’d see that under “Even more favorite titles coming each month” you’ll find a short list of games that appear to be coming out soon to play on Xbox One, those games are: Halo Wars, Skate 3, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Now, I don’t think that they will add all of these games at once, but they give us some good ideas as to what to expect.

According to Wikipedia, the list of other games that are expected to be added in the near future are: Alan Wake, Bomberman Live, Burnout Paradise, Castlevania: Symphony of the night, Dark Souls, Hitman: Absolution, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Left 4 Dead 2, Red Dead Redemption, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Worms 2: Armageddon.
For me, it makes more sense for the ones that are on their site currently, in March, Halo Wars will celebrate its seventh anniversary that month as well as it is the last major game from the Halo franchise that can’t be played in any way on the Xbox One, so it would make a lot of sense to add that in March. They could drop the three games from the Bioshock series all at once, they did it with the entire Gears of War series.

Now they also usually add some arcade titles, I won’t try to guess those as I’m not as familiar with the Xbox Live Arcade library. But in regards, to some other possible games that weren’t on a list, I would have to guess that it would be something that’s heavily requested by fans, the biggest game that I know that other players and myself want is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Easily one of the most popular games of the previous console generation, I know if that drops I’ll download that one immediately.

Other games that I think they will try to add over time will be games like Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and other popular series, but it’s much easier for them to get franchises that are owned by Microsoft to work on the Backwards Compatibility¬†as they own those developers themselves. But they’ve already added nearly all the Halo’s and already have added every Gears of War game to date.

I love the fact that Microsoft added the overall feature of Backwards Compatibility to the console, as it takes old games and gives us a reason to play them again, as well as with the ever growing library of Xbox One games, it gives you so many more options as more games are added for Xbox One and Xbox 360. I feel that it gives the Xbox something that makes the Xbox One better than the Playstation 4, because I know a lot of people complained about the lack of that function with the new consoles when they were released.

What games would you like to see added to the Xbox One Backwards Compatible list? What are some of your favorite Xbox 360 games to play on your Xbox One currently? And if you don’t like the ability to play your old games on a newer console, what’s your reasoning? ¬†Post your thoughts in the comments below!
