Why You Should Be Excited About Destiny’s April Update

Destiny-April-Update

Let me just start by saying that I will be eternally grateful to Bungie for the Halo series. I’ve spent countless hours playing those games. So when Bungie left Halo, I was looking forward to seeing what new experiences that they would bring us. And then Destiny came out and I really loved the new game. I even have both soundtracks for the game on my phone. (One’s for the main game, the other is for the Taken King Expansion) The reason that I tell you all of this is so that you can see just how much I love both Bungie and Destiny before we really get started.

I consider Year One of Destiny to be successful, and Year Two was looking to be just as successful with its most recent expansion “The Taken King” kicking off the second year of the game, and while the new expansion was fantastic, Bungie has seemed to have been stumbling ever since, to make the players that complain about the paid DLC happy. And they’ve come out with smaller “events” for free but it’s just not enough to make me come back. But with the April Update coming up, it promises to be a crucial addition to the Destiny series.

This isn’t a full-fledged expansion to the game, instead, it’s just an update to The Taken King but what it’s adding might just hold players over until their next expansion later this year. It seems to me as if they’re integrating The Taken King into their Prison of Elders game mode. Now they still haven’t revealed everything just yet, but here’s what we know so far:

-April Update goes live April 12th

-Light Level cap increased to 335

-The Reef has been updated to reflect current story in the game

-Taken have been added to Prison of Elders

-There is now a Level 41 version of Prison of Elders

-Difficulties and rewards have been increased  in certain activities

-You will now get scored during Prison of Elders

-Bosses in Prison of Elders are being updated

-New quest featuring The Blighted Chalice Strike

-Winter Run Strike will be updated with Taken

-Will be free for those who purchased The Taken King

Also,

-On 03/30, we will see more of the new rewards

-On 04/06, we will see some more of the new live updates

Now these might seem like small changes but for someone who’s been looking for a reason to come back to the game, this does the job.Players can’t really complain (although we all know they will) about this “free” update. Keep in mind this is really The Taken King 1.5, but with new activities, new gear, and new experiences. And that’s enough for me to want to come back after months of not playing.

I hope that they can get Year Two back on track, as the sequel which was originally due this fall was pushed back to next year. So now Bungie needs to come up with a gameplan for Year Three of Destiny on this game rather than starting it on the sequel as they originally planned. It will be really interesting to see what happens between now and then.

But I have faith in Bungie that they will make a strong comeback with their fourth expansion that’s due later this year. What do you think of the April Update? What are you looking forward to the most? Or are you a fallen Guardian who’s given up on the game for good? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. And as for me, it looks like it’s time to dust off my copy of Destiny.
