After Amazing 2015 Reveal, What’s With The Silence About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands?

One of Ubisoft’s surprises at E3 2015 was the announcement of the new Ghost Recon: Wildlands coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Fans had been missing the Ghost Recon franchise and were wondering when we would get another one. Ubisoft has said that they plan to launch Ghost Recon: Wildlands something during 2016 but the question is, will it make it out this year?

For those who don’t know Ghost Recon: Wildlands is an open world take on the shooter franchise that wants to give players the freedom to take on any mission any way they want. Beyond the initial reveal trailer last year and the little bit of information that was provided during E3 nothing more has been said of Wildlands to date. It is true that Ubisoft has been busy promoting both Far Cry: Primal and The Division so they haven’t been focusing on their future titles but with a 2016 launch planned you would think we would have gotten some more information by now.

It is possible that we can look ahead at what Ubisoft has in the works to see if a 2016 launch for Wildlands is still possible. We know there are plans to support The Division with lots of DLC so Ubisoft has that going for them. We also know that a sequel to Watch Dogs is also in the works and could launch this fall as well so there is that to think about. Ghost Recon: Wildlands will most likely not be talked about again until E3 this June but it’s possible we hear about it sooner maybe through a Game Informer cover story or some other outlet. If we don’t hear about the game prior to E3 then I’m going to say it will most likely not launch until 2017.

A 2017 launch is possible as Ubisoft may want to give the game as much time as possible to live up to expectations. Ubisoft delayed The Division out of 2015 and the game went on to be the best selling new IP in history despite the delay. Ubisoft could do the same thing for Ghost Recon: Wildlands and focus instead on supporting The Division and a possible Watch Dogs sequel this year instead. We’ve seen open world games take a long time to create and one such as this where you’ll be able to team up with 3 other players in co-op take time to get right. Ubisoft has been keen on making sure their games work lately and don’t launch in a messed up condition. This is proven by them deciding to take more time on future Assassin’s Creed games.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is shaping up to be another great title from Ubisoft regardless of when it gets here. Open world games where you can play with your friends are a huge hit in today’s market and I’m sure Ubisoft wants to deliver another one with Wildlands. I know I’m personally excited for a new Ghost Recon game and I can’t wait to dive into it with some friends. What about you? Are you excited for Ghost Recon: Wildlands? Do you think it will make it out in this year or be delayed until 2017? Tell us in the comments below.

What’s With The Silence About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands? The constant downgrades on Ubi games. How long you start playing games? 2 weeks?

Why show more of a game that won’t be out until March 2018 if The Division’s development is anything to go by?

Really looking forward to this game, but I expect it to be another Division, but with vehicles, not apocalyptic and set in South America.
