It is no secret to most players of both games, that the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises have always had a pretty heavy rivalry, however with the release of the trailer for both upcoming games, Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 thing seem to have taken a turn for the worse for Activision. Gamers have been up in arms recently with the majority of the rumours and news coming from the developers of the Call of Duty franchise, especially the recent news that the much beloved Modern Warfare remaster would only feature in the more expensive bundles of the game, whereas the recent trailer of Battlefield 1 has definitely put DICE one step ahead.
In the week prior, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare’s reveal trailer was the most disliked videos in the video game genre of all time, amounting around 300,000 dislikes however today it has been awarded the not-so-prestigious award of most disliked trailer ever, not to mention the 8th most disliked video in YouTube history with around 1.2 million dislikes.
However, the opposing team behind the already much loved and anticipated Battlefield 1 have made it into the top 250 most liked videos on YouTube with more than a million likes, deeming it in my books one of the most liked trailers of all time in the entertainment section.
Just to put that into proportion, in four days the Battlefield 1 trailer has received one million likes whereas Call of Duty have gotten 1.2 million in a week – hats off, Activision. This is somewhat unsurprising as DICE have tried to market their newer games to the YouTube audience.
Have you seen both of the trailers? Do you think that the hostility towards the new Call of Duty is unwarranted? Perhaps you feel Battlefield 1 is receiving more credit than there is due? We’d love to hear from you down below, so let us know your thoughts and opinions on the matter!
