Last year’s undisputed Game of the Year was CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3. The game released to critical acclaim and as someone who has well over 100 hours sunk into the game, I can affirm just how rich and densely populated the world is. The Witcher 3 set a new standard for Western RPG games and the first DLC Heart of Stone; that expansion takes place in the existing area of No Man’s Land and focuses on Geralt’s continued adventures as he attempts to locate a mysterious figure known as the Man of Glass. As great as that expansion was, it’s the Blood and Wine expansion that fans have been anticipating the most and alas we finally have our first trailer for the expansion and even a 20 minute gameplay video:
Thanks to this interview from Eurogamer, The Witcher 3 Senior Story Writer Jakub Szamalek revealed more about Blood and Wine and what players should expect from it. Like mentioned in the past, Blood and Wine will be the final adventure of The Witcher universe with Geralt as main character, a story without any strong relation with the main story. Mr. Szamalek believes the team has managed to create something that’s even better than the main game, also thanks to players’ feedback.
The official sypnosis for the expansions reads:
“THE LAND OF WINE IS DRENCHED IN BLOOD”
For the last time become professional monster slayer Geralt of Rivia and explore Toussaint, a remote land untouched by war, where you will unravel the horrifying secret behind a beast terrorizing the kingdom. Blood and Wine is a 30+ hour adventure full of dark deeds, unexpected twists, romance and deceit.

Man… I am so pumped for this expansion.. I played the Witcher 3 for over 120hrs.. and before the game came out.. I purchased both Witcher 1 for the PC and played it through.. and followed that up with Purchasing Witcher 2 and an Xbox 360.. just to play it.. I was so happy I did too.. Best games ever. CD Projekt Red is probably one of the best Open world developers in the World. I haven’t encountered a Story telling studio better than them.. Not like this.. and because of that.. I simply drool at the thought of Cyberpunk 2077, simply because I know the pedigree of games they put out.. so sad to see you go old friend…. maybe again in the future we will encounter each other.
