Square Enix and DONTNOD Entertainment have announced today that Episode 1 of Life is Strange will be released for free across all platforms, on 21st July 2016. This is a move that Telltale often makes as a way of providing an incentive to those who haven’t picked up an episodic game yet for people to have a chance to try it out.
I personally only got around to playing Life is Strange after all 5 episodes had released as I picked it up in a sale on Xbox Live but it was one of the best games I played last year. It’s truly special and since the first episode will be free from tomorrow there’s no excuse to not give it a try!
“Although our team set out to create an award-winning narrative we still cannot believe the response we’ve had from players of Life is Strange” said Oskar Guilbert, CEO of DONTNOD Entertainment. “We’re really glad that Square Enix have decided to give the first episode away for free so more players can begin their journey and see why people have fallen in love with the game for themselves”.
“By making the first episode of Life is Strange free, we’re really excited to welcome new players to the world of Arcadia Bay and our passionate, vibrant community” said Jon Brooke, VP Brand and European Marketing at Square Enix, “We’re incredibly pleased with the awards that the series has won to date as well as the support that our community have given us throughout the campaign.”
“LIFE IS STRANGE™ takes place in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where senior student Max Caulfield returns after a 5 year absence. Reunited with her former friend Chloe, the pair will attempt to uncover the uncomfortable truth behind the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber.”
