NeoGAF user dragonbane has made quite a detailed thread on the website detailing some of No Man’s Sky’s secrets that he, or a friend, obtained via data mining the games PC files. Here’s what he found:
There is, in fact, a Half Life 2 logo in the game for some mysterious “Testing” reason
He also found some code that hints at the possible release of No Man’s Sky on Xbox One
You might remember that we here at ThisGenGaming reported on this a few days ago in our article Sean Murray Doesn’t Rule Out No Man’s Sky Coming To Xbox One; “Not Sony’s Game”
So when we spoke to Hello Games Sean Murray, the man responsible for creating No Man’s Sky, we asked him and received a rather coy response for what we assumed was a very straightforward question.
In response Murray told us he wasn’t sure what he was “actually allowed to say” at the time, noting that he needed to be “very specific with my words”.
Before going any further though, Sony’s rep stepped in to move the interview along, explaining that at this time there was nothing more to add.
Sean Murray was deliberately coy on his answer due to Sony reps not wanting him to discuss it but his silence and reluctance to rule it out heavily hints at an Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky.
Assets from the E3 2015 demo are still in there and its contents hint at a rather scripted nature of the demo (which makes some sense):
This could be the player character, an easter egg or another dream never realized:
