It seems CD Projekt RED joins a rather long list of games that won’t be going back and making an update for Sony’s upcoming PS4 Pro. This means that there will be no patch to enable improved performance for the PS4 Pro for The Witcher 3. Instead, CD Projekt has explained that they are focusing on Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077.
Videogamer got in contact with CD Projekt RED and this was their official statement on the matter:
“Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro,”
This makes sense since it probably means that CD Projekt has their full attention on their current projects. Since Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is due out a year later and considering CD Projekt’s close relationship with Microsoft, it might be possible that The Witcher 3 might see a Scorpio patch but that’s speculation at this point.
