Capcom Is Doing Dead Rising Fans Wrong By Locking a Main Feature Behind DLC

Dead Rising 4 is on the way to Xbox One and PC this December but for long time fans of the franchise some of the changes aren’t welcome. One of the biggest changes is that Dead Rising 4 will no longer feature a time limit which is something that made Dead Rising unique from many other zombie games. Many fans are unhappy with this change but they may still get their wish only it’s not in the way they probably would hope.

Today Capcom announced the Season Pass details for Dead Rising 4 and one of the DLC packs called “Frank Rising” brings bad news. Read the description below:

Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising: In this DLC, Frank West is freshly infected and needs to find a cure before he becomes a zombie and is lost forever. While searching for a cure, Frank discovers that everything is not the same as it was; zombies are getting smarter, people cannot be trusted and paramilitary forces are plotting to wipe out Willamette. Frank has a limited time before he reverts to the full zombie state and the city is wiped out. Frank will have to get to the truth first… or die trying.

As you can see it would appear that the Frank Rising DLC will bring back the time limit feature which in all honestly is kind of wrong. Capcom knows that many of their long time fans were disappointed by them removing this from Dead Rising 4 and their answer? Charge them extra for it. Yes if you want to play Dead Rising 4 like you did Dead Rising games in the past you’re going to have to not only buy Dead Rising 4 but then buy the Frank Rising DLC when it releases at some point. This is just another dirty move by Capcom in what has been a string of bad moves by them. We all know how they handled Street Fighter V after all.

I mean it’s not only that but other things that make Dead Rising 4 not feel like Dead Rising like the new voice actor for Frank West or the regenerating health or the fact that you can get power weapons like the exosuit early on. All of these things have made many hardcore Dead Rising fans unhappy and concerned about the direction that Capcom Vancouver is taking the franchise in. The right thing to do would have been to include the option to play with the timer or not but nope if you want it you better be ready to give even more money to Capcom for the DLC.

What do you think of Capcom including the timer as DLC for Dead Rising 4? Do you plan on getting the game still? Let us know in the comments below.

So….set yourself a timer, and if you don’t complete the mission before the alarm goes off, force yourself to restart?

I completely hated the time requirement portion of Dead Rising. So lucky for me I can simply not purchase this DLC.
