Six Undeniable Reasons Why You Should Own An PS4 In 2016

ps4

The Playstation 4 came out strong on release, and it continues to get even stronger as time goes on.  It had a few stumbles along the way, but the Playstation 4 is still a powerhouse system made with the gamer in mind.  Here’s a just a couple reasons why it is a perfect time to own a Playstation 4.

Powerhouse System

It is no secret that the PS4 is a more robust system than the Xbox One.  We see consistently with every major AAA title release the comparison of graphics between the two consoles.  While at the surface the graphics of the two systems looks fairly close, the PS4 has always been able to offer a higher resolution than the Xbox One.  Sometimes this comes at the cost of FPS and sometimes not.  This no doubt leads to discussions of the importance of FPS in games, but that it a discussion for another article entirely.  At the end of the day, the specs are clear, that the PS4 is the superior console, which looks to be even better with the PS4 Pro.

Exclusives

Another huge selling point for the Playstation 4 is the large list of exclusives.  True, the Xbox One has exclusives as well.  I even listed it as a strength of the console in my previous list, and they are superb titles that are exclusive to the Xbox One system, but the PS4 has its own list of exclusives as well.  Some would argue that the PS4 exclusives are better, but again, another topic for another day.  With the superb titles like the Last of Us, which was so good they remastered the PS3 copy for the PS4, to the Uncharted Series, to the God of War series and the Gran Turismo series, the Playstation 4 has a wide variety of exclusives that any gamer can enjoy.

Playstation VR

Sony only recently released their new VR technology for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro, but it looks very promising so far.  Reviews are all around and people are really really enjoying the VR gaming that Playstation has to offer.  While Sony isn’t the first to delve into VR technology, they are the first of the major consoles to do so.  The list of VR games is sure to grow overtime, but there are already some exciting titles out and already planned for the technology.  The new Resident Evil is even going have an exclusive VR portion of the game for Sony gamers.  So, if you are a gamer who wants to be on the cutting edge of technology, the Playstation 4 is the clear choice!

Playstation Plus

Until the Playstation 4, Sony opted for a free multiplayer service for their games.  Now, gamers have to pay a subscription service similar to Xbox Live to be able to experience multiplayer content.  Unlike Microsoft, Sony still keeps Netflix and certain apps available even without their service.  But if you do fork over the money for the service, you not only get access to endless hours of multiplayer content access, but you get a selection of games for free every month.  And some of the games that have been offered have been huge hits as well.  Most recently, the Resident Evil HD version was offered for Playstation Plus subscribers.  Even some games were released initially free on the service, such as the widely popular Rocket League!  While everyone doesn’t want to have to pay more to use a system they already paid for, Sony definitely makes it worth the investment.

Indie Support

A game doesn’t need to come from a big AAA company like Bethesda, EA, or Ubisoft for it to be a good game.  Smaller indie companies have been popping up all over and some of their games have become crazy popular.  From the launch of the console, Sony came out and said they wanted to support Indie Game developers and bring them to gamers with the Playstation 4 console.  And throughout the life of the PS4, they have kept up on that promise.  Many great games have come out on the PS4 due to their support of indie titles.  As stated before the successful Rocket League was released on the PS4 and later came to the Xbox One.  Other great indie titles on the system include Towerfall Ascension, Outlast, Spelunky, Everybody’s Gone to Rapture, and the Binding of Issac: Rebirth.  The list is even larger but these are some of my personal favorites.

Playstation Now

Playstation offers gamers the ability to play older games on their Playstation 4 system.  While it may not be as smooth a service as the Xbox One has, it is still a bonus for anyone who wants to play older titles, but no longer have their older system.  With the Playstation Now service, gamers can have access to a large selection of older titles.  Individual titles can be rented at a set cost/time period, or there is the option for a set monthly fee to have unlimited access to these older titles.  This is definitely a great way for gamers to experience their favorite titles again and again.

From superior hardware, cutting edge technology, to indie and exclusives, the Playstation 4 is truly the console for gamers!  With the new addition of VR and the soon to be Playstation 4 Pro, Sony gamers will continue to have the next-gen experience that is just above the rest.

“PS4 has always been able to offer a higher resolution than the Xbox One”
Do you know what the word “always” means? It means in every instance, which is just plain false. A more correct term would be mostly or even almost always.
