Head Developer Of Scalebound Hideki Kamiya Had To Take Time Off For Mental Health Reasons

Following up on the news that Scalebound from Platinum Games may be cancelled we have also now heard some things about the head developer Hideki Kamiya. Apparently development has been quite taxing on members of the team especially Kamiya to the point where he had to take time off for mental health concerns. This was further pointed about by Shinobi602 who said he heard the same thing.

scale

We have heard other senior team members of Platinum also had to take extended time off for health reasons. None of this is good to hear and just shows what a mess the game must have been in. Stay tuned for more news on Scalebound as it releases.

  3. I feel for him and his team. I work hard for a living and know first hand about work related stress . Let’s not forget that’s it’s our hobby but work for them. At the end of the day life is my valuable than any video game.

      • Health Reasons was just to deter critics and bad media away. These things corrupt businesses. The real reason differs if you ever worked in an industry before. There are many factors to skin a cat hence why they took it down.

“When you have a publisher and they fund the entire game, it comes with strings attached and those strings are that sometimes you can’t make a sequel,” Inaba tells GamesIndustry.biz. “Sometimes it’s all up to them. So to really have control over what you’ve made, you have to fund it and make it yourself. That allows you a lot of freedom, a lot of different options. That’s why, if you’re a developer of our size, it’s why you would want to do more self-publishing and self-funding.”
