Today at a dedicated event, EA and DICE took the wraps off of the next entry in their long running FPS franchise, Battlefield V.
Battlefield V takes the franchise back to World War II and features single player, multiplayer and co-op modes. We have more details below but watch the reveal trailer first. Battlefield V launches on October 19 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Those who pre-order will get early access to the Open Beta. There will also be a Deluxe Edition that will let you start playing three days early on October 16. If you have EA access you can play on October 11.
The single player in Battlefield V will once again be War Stories that explore World War II by telling intimate tales about individuals. It will take players around the globe with vignettes set in Norway, Rotterdam, North Africa, and France. The game will also be a live-service model that will bring new content to players regularly including more War Stories missions.
These live services are titled Tides of War and players won’t have to pay any additional money for any of the content. There is no more Premium Pass or map packs so now everyone who buys the game will get additional maps and modes for free so that the player base is more unified. There will be cosmetic items you can buy but there will be no items that give players advantages in gameplay.
Every player can choose their “Company” which is a collective of soldiers and vehicles that you can customize how you want. Other details about the game include new animations that give you a more realistic, physics-based sense of movement. Then you have the Combined Arms co-op mode that features procedurally generated missions. The multiplayer now has Grand Operations that feature multi-day skirmishes that carry over across various maps and modes.
