You sure hear a lot about zombie fatigue in the video game space but that obviously is just a myth as World War Z has been the latest to prove this. Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive have announced that World War Z has sold more than 1 million copies in the first week of launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Here is what Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch had to say about the early success of the game:
We are humbled and thrilled by the immense success so far of World War Z, especially on PC thanks to the tremendous support of the Epic Games Store. Moving forward, we’ll continue to expand the game and its community with new improvements, stability updates, and bonus gameplay content, beginning very soon with a special new mission for the Tokyo episode.
World War Z allows four players to team up and battle massive swarms of zombies across the world in four different locations. I reviewed the game and talked about how it gave me that same fun feeling that Left 4 Dead did but that it needed more content and polish to be great. It sounds like they intend to deliver on both of those fronts going forward so I’m eager to see what they have in store.
