The June 2019 NPD report for the US video game market is in and we have all the details about what the top selling hardware and software for the month were.

Total spending for the month reached $959 million which was down 13% when compared to $1.1 billion the market made in June 2018. Hardware spending was down a lot too coming in at $235 million which is down 33% when compared to $350 million in June 2018. Software spending across consoles and PC was $386 million which was down 1% from $388 million in June 2018.

The Nintendo Switch was once again the best selling hardware for the month of June 2019 both in unit sales and dollar sales.

The software charts for June were pretty interesting both in terms of some new releases as well as some movement from some older titles. Super Mario Maker 2 was the best selling game of the month and set a new record for launch month sales for a Super Mario Maker game. That means it did better than Super Mario Maker on the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS.

The second best selling game of June was Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled from Activision. It also did very well and set a new record highest launch month total for any Crash Bandicoot game in history. Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy was the previous holder of that record.

A few other games worth mentioning include Mortal Kombat 11 which was No.3 in June as well as several PlayStation 4 exclusives. Sony ran their Days of Play promotion last month and it seemed to help a lot of their older titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man moved all the way up to No.7 for the month even though it was only $20 and these charts are based on revenue not number of copies sold. God of War was another one that saw some movement making it to No.20 for the month. Days Gone also continues to sell well once again placing in the top ten at No.10.

Below you can see the full top 20 selling games for the month of June 2019 as well as the top 10 selling games on each platform.
