The UK weekly retail video game sales chart for last week is in and PlayStation’s latest exclusive game Death Stranding is off to a great start.
Hideo Kojima’s latest title made it to No.2 on the charts in it’s first week on sale placing only behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Death Stranding is the second biggest exclusive and second biggest new IP in terms of sales in 2019. The game it is behind is Days Gone which launched back in April. Death Stranding’s first week numbers were 36% smaller than those of Days Gone.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 fell from No.2 to No.4 this week with sales dropping over half compared to the first week. Another new release was EA’s Need for Speed: Heat which came in at No.5 for the week. The game sold 47% less compared to Need for Speed: Payback did back in 2017 although digital numbers aren’t included in these figures. Mario & Sonic At The Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 which launched last week came in at No.8
