Best Casino Series Everyone Should Watch

It’s no secret that the casino is one of the best places you can go to in order to have fun. No matter if it’s a brick and mortar one or an online casino – there’s just something about playing blackjack, poker, spins, and many other games that you cannot get anywhere else.

However, even the best gamblers need a second to relax – spend time with their friends and family, play with their pets, or simply watch TV. The latter is a perfect way of practicing without actually playing. Several TV shows offer you insight into different strategies and moves that can potentially help you once you’ll be back at the poker table.

However, since there are so many, choosing the right ones can be quite challenging. After all, you probably don’t want to spend a few hours watching a show, only for it to turn out to be a disappointment.

We decided to help with that. So, here are some of the best casino series that you should definitely watch.

Sneaky Pete

If you liked Breaking Bad or House, you are probably going to like this series as well. As it turns out, Bryan Cranston, one of the main actors of Breaking Bad, and David Shore, the creator of House, decided to team up and created a perfect TV series for every gambling lover.

The plot of Sneaky Pete concerns Marius Josipovic, played by Giovanni Ribisi – a convicted con artist who just got out of prison. He takes up the identity of his cellmate, Pete Murphy (Ethan Embry), to avoid going back to the life he had before getting locked up.

The show is available for watching on Amazon Video. While it is not entirely about casinos or gambling, it does feature some nice scenes from the poker table.

Stan Lee’s Lucky Man

Stan Lee was one of these people that will be remembered for years to come, and his death didn’t change that. He will always be known as the creative force behind the legendary characters that changed pop culture, including the Hulk, the Avengers, and Spider-Man. However, apart from this, he is also the creator of a show titled Stan Lee’s Lucky Man.

The show tells the story of Harry Clayton (James Nesbitt) – a homicide detective. At the beginning of the show, Harry is a gambling addict. At one point, he comes into possession of a bracelet that allows him to control luck. Since he is in debt and has already lost his family, he uses the bracelet to start over.

The show is available on NOW TV, as well as Apple iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play Movies, and a few other streaming platforms.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a comedy-drama that takes you behind the scenes of one of the casinos in Sin City and shows you the day-to-day activities there.

Created by Gary Scott Thompson, the show follows the adventures of an elite Las Vegas surveillance team working at the fictional Montecito Resort and Casino. The team is led by Ed Deline, played by James Caan, and his right-hand man – Danny McCoy, personated by Josh Duhamel.

The show was aired on NBC from September 2003 to February 2008. Unfortunately, at the moment, Las Vegas is not available on any of the popular streaming platforms. However, you can buy DVDs with all five seasons on Amazon – there are plenty of offers that you can choose from.

Big Deal

If you are in the mood for a British classic, then this is your way to go – Big Deal is a dramedy that was originally aired on the BBC back in the 80s.

The plot follows the life of Robby Box (Ray Brooks), who is a small-time London gambler on the lookout for his next big win. Even though he is not getting as many big games as he would probably like to, he is constantly playing – winning and losing money and estates back and forth. Robby has a girlfriend and a daughter who he needs to support and who are trying to help him get his life back together.

Unlike many American or British shows, Big Deal doesn’t focus on the glamorous side of gambling. Instead, it shows the life of a low-stake gambler as it is – seedy and boring.

Some episodes of this series are available on YouTube; however, you can also purchase the whole show on DVD on Amazon.

The Casino

The Casino is an American reality TV, which was aired on the Fox network in 2004. The show shows you the good and the bad of owning a casino in Las Vegas.

This series’s plot focuses on two multi-millionaires, Tim Poster and Tom Breitling, as they try to bring the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino back to its glory. Contrary to some of the most popular casinos in Vegas, this one is located downtown and not on the Strip.

Although the show was and is still loved by casino gamblers, it didn’t perform that well in ratings, which eventually lead to its cancellation. However, you can stil watch the episodes (at least some of them) on YouTube.

The Bottom Line

Gambling has always been a huge part of popular culture. There are several books, movies, and games concerning the topic of casinos, gambling, poker, and more, with new ones coming out every once in a while.

What’s more, as you could see above, casinos and gambling in general are also a prevalent subject when it comes to TV shows.

Some of them will give you an insight into different gambling strategies you might not have known about that can help you win your next match. Some of them will teach you new things, such as how you can bet on sports. Some will bring you pure entertainment, while some will remind you that you always need to know your limit – especially in things like gambling.

No matter which shows you’ll choose to watch from our list, we are sure that you will have a good time watching it. Enjoy!
