So, with the heists being released somewhat successfully and GTA Online nearing its peak, it’s about time for Rockstar to turn their attention to the singleplayer of GTA V. It’s been a while since the release of the game and the timeframe of the DLC is somewhat skewed with the online component being the bigger part of the game. That being said, GTA DLC is widely regarded as some of the best single player experiences we’ve ever seen and we know they are capable of big things over there at Rockstar.
The first thing I wanted to talk about was the seemingly confirmed zombie DLC that we would get for the singleplayer of GTA. Since the rumour surfaced roughly 6 or 7 months ago it has gone dark, with little mention of it for a while, but it’s such a great concept there is no way I could leave it out of this article. So the way this all surfaced was when someone cracked the game code for GTA V and found the characters “ZMB” in places absent of any other relevance. People only assumed it could mean zombie DLC for the singleplayer, and it’s a safe bet considering the experience Rockstar have with Undead Nightmare. This is the most likely content I think we will see in the singleplayer of Grand Theft Auto although no timeframe for any DLC from Rockstar makes me worried.
Just imagine, the streets of Los Santos, once filled with gangs, drug dealers and crooked cops, now desolate filled with rotting corpses wanting your blood. I can already see the way the trio would react to this. First you’ve got Trevor who would absolutely love it, popping undead heads and generally having a great time! Then you’ve got Michael, constantly stressed, trying to find a way out of the situation. And finally Franklin, who is scared, but at the same time he’s no stranger to being shot at and killing, so would do fine. There could even be a heist dynamic to it, if you bring in Lester. The trio go and get supplies for the getaway mission, and Lester is the hacker, calling for help from the outside world.
Well, now that I’ve hyped myself up about a DLC that hasn’t even been hinted at by Rockstar yet, let’s move onto another idea.
A small idea I have is not so centred around a DLC as a whole, but aspects of one that i know people would love. How about bringing back characters from an older GTA title. When I say older title, I’m really only talking about GTA IV and it’s DLC’s as the other ones follow a separate cannon, but wouldn’t it be cool for Niko and Roman to fly in from Liberty City and help out with a heist or Packie McReary to play a bigger role (he shows up as a random event in this game). It’d be great to add a little bit of nostalgia to the game and bring back some fan favourite characters.
I have 2 remaining ideas that somewhat go together. Firstly I thought about the “Casino and Gambling DLC” that is supposedly in the works. This could add what i think should have been in the game at launch. Things like blackjack, roulette, poker, all of which works in both a singleplayer and multiplayer environment and gives people something to spend their hard earned money on. Then I thought about how great the model of their singleplayer is that they can just add more heists to it like little content patches, similar to how I think they will add more heists to the multiplayer with every mini-DLC moving forward. There is so much corruption in Los Santos, they should be overflowing with ideas!
But how about combining the two together and with a casino patch, add a casino heist too, much like the one we saw in GTA San Andreas. People loved that heist and it seems simple enough to almost recreate that heist, but with HD graphics and Rockstar take home a score of their own. Let’s not forget that the casino and gambling patch could also be pretty easily integrated into GTA Online too, and if you throw in the stockmarket into the mix, you’ve already got another “heist-sized” dlc for multiplayer.
There really are a lot of ways Rockstar can take us in terms of singleplayer downloadable content, whether it be zombies, casinos, more heists or a complete other direction entirely. Everyone has faith in their ability to deliver it and if past content is any indicator, the way they will go is sure to be an instant seller. Let’s just hope it comes out soon now that GTA Online is at the top of its popularity. Rockstar Games, take my money!

Well, I think a start would be to update the story mode with the new vehicles and customization abilities that are as of right now exclusively in GTA Online.
