Assassin’s Creed Syndicate vs Halo 5: Guardians – Which Title Will Win The Month of October?

Yet again we see a competition between two titles – this time we are looking at two rival titles that are both expected to reach high in sales, but also receive a lot of criticism. The first of which is Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Syndicate will be the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and will hit the market October 23rd. On the other hand we have Halo’s fifth installment to look forward to, which will release October 27th. With two really popular franchises releasing a new title around the same time, the two are bound to compete with each other for the top game of October. This will be a tough one to tell which game will come out on top.

Let’s look at the past of both game franchises. Both received about the same popularity in their debut and have since grown in their fan bases majorly. In terms of popularity between the two games, it looks like Halo comes out on top as the more popular franchise because it has been around longer and has a larger fan base.

However, both games have run into the same problem with their recent installments – the bugs. Assassin’s Creed: Unity had major bug issues and to this day fans still rave about it. Halo: The Master Chief Collection ran into the same fate. It’s been almost a full year since MCC’s release and yet Microsoft has done nothing to fix it. This leaves fans wondering if MCC will ever actually be fixed, or if Microsoft will simply move on, ignore the issue, and focus on the upcoming title. Here, the two games come to a standstill – both have dissatisfied the fan base recently, which could have resulted in a decrease in popularity for both games. It looks like both franchises will be seeing consumers who will be wary of their games after what happened with their recent titles.

The platforms the games are released on also play a big part in this because the more platforms a game is on, the wider range of gamers exposed to this game there are. Most people know where this is going – Assassin’s Creed is on multi-platform and Halo is an Xbox One exclusive; so Assassin’s Creed should receive more popularity, right? Well, that honestly may not be the case. Assassin’s Creed, though popular, does not have the same level of popularity that Halo has. Even though Halo is an exclusive, it is a major exclusive that just might wipe Assassin’s Creed clean off the charts.

Not to mention, looking at how both franchises are going, it looks like Halo seems to have its ups and downs, but many people don’t take a liking to Assassin’s Creed’s newer installments. A popular opinion is that all games after the first two installments aren’t as enjoyable. Because of this, Halo is that much more likely to gain more popularity than Assassin’s Creed.

In my opinion, I think Halo 5 will win October. I personally never took a liking to Assassin’s Creed all that much and I share a lot of opinions that the modern fan base has with the game. Because of this, I just don’t see Assassin’s Creed beating out Halo at all later this month. I could be wrong, but I think Halo has this one in the bag. What do you guys think? In a hypothetical competition between the two games, which do you think will come out on top later this month? Let us know what you think in the comments.

  1. The one that is available on more consoles. That was easy.

  2. Well, is this competition based on sales or just popularity?

I believe Halo 5 will excel in every sense of winning! Not to mention with the recent announcements regarding Halo – 10 year plan, free DLC for Halo 5, Halo 5 promised to not suffer the MCC issues.

Andddddd, with all the secretive controversial story plugs with Team Locke it’s definitely interesting to see what Halo 5 offers for the campaign!!
