Yes exactly 9 years ago today, Rockstar Games released the classic video game “Bully” which was known as “Canis Canem Edit” in Europe for the PS2. I was one of the many who bought this game on release, and fell in love with it. The setting, the story, the characters, everything was great in classic Rockstar Games fashion of course. Just under 2 years later we got the Scholarship Edition for Xbox 360, PC, and the Wii which not only improved the resolution, but added more content than the PS2 counterpart.
Since 2008 we have had nothing in terms of Bully content or even any hints that a sequel could be coming any time soon. New entries to Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead have come and gone since then. Now I feel is the best time to bring Bully back. Bully never really had a fully fledged game in the last generation of gaming, and Bully was released at the absolute end of the generation before that. My point being is that Bully never really had a chance to show what can be done with the full power of a current generation console.
Imagine what can be possible with all the new hardware in this current generation of gaming. Bully pushed as much as it could with the PS2, but the Xbox 360 version never really managed to use the Xbox 360 to it’s full potential like Rockstar Games did with GTA V and Max Payne 3. Imagine what a Bully game on PS4/Xbox One could have, Bullworth itself would be close to the size of the whole map of Bully. There actually could be multiple schools in a Bully game and much more towns that are also bigger.
It would also be nice to play a game from Rockstar that is a little bit more on the light hearted side compared to their other games which are more for the mature crowd. That’s also what made Bully so unique when it was first released, open world video games at the time were known for being games were you drove around in cars and shot people too. In Bully you are a not an adult so you don’t drive cars, you are limited to what time you can stay awake until, ect. It was different and for being a different take on the very popular open world genre it managed to work so well.
