Why Halo 5: Guardians Record Breaking Sales Shows The Xbox One Has A Great Following Despite PS4 Lead

Halo 5: Guardians was released one week ago and has already broken many sales records. The Xbox community is thriving even greater since the launch. Halo is one of the biggest reasons why Xbox has always been on top. Now the PS4 has a significant lead over Xbox, but that doesn’t mean much when it comes to a great following.

As a whole the Xbox community has always been more interactive because of the Halo series. The PS4 following is still great but falls short. The fantastic sales records broken by Halo 5: Guardians shows how strong Xbox as a community still is compared to any others.

I can still look back and remember the fond memories of playing Halo splitscreen and online multiplayer with my closest friends all day and night. I would forget what time of day it was and some people would skip school or work because they were sucked into the game. Those were some of the best moments in gaming for me personally.

Halo 5: Guardians may be breaking sales records but the sales of Xbox One consoles has spiked before and after the launch of the game. This goes to show how many people buy the console for one game series in particular. As for the Halo community, it grows every single day and gets better and better as time goes on. So when it comes to a following Xbox still beats out Playstation by a good amount.

If you ask someone what console they own today they will most likely say PS4. This might soon change thanks to Halo 5: Guardians and it’s great support. Many gamers play videogames to connect with their friends and a community as a whole. Halo ties this all together in a fantastic package you can’t find anywhere other than Xbox One. Yes the Playstation has games like Uncharted, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, and Resistance but none of them compare to the massive scale of Halo as a series. Major League Gaming is very popular and Halo makes up a large majority of that. If that doesn’t show how much of a following Xbox has then I don’t know what to say.

Despite the PS4’s lead over the Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians has brought the following back to what it has been in the recent years. Going all the way back to the roots of the original Xbox, Halo was the main driving force behind the console’s sales. Groundbreaking graphics, gameplay, storyline, and online community are the main reasons why the Xbox has always shown greater support for its followers. Now with Halo 5, it can return to it’s roots and triumph over the PS4.

Do you agree this shows the Xbox One still has a great following? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. I purchased the original XBOX because of Halo, even though I am a die hard Playstation fan. I really think that game helped skyrocket sales for Microsoft which continue today with the latest chapter in the Halo series.

  2. Is this supposed to be a joke? If there’s a single person out there that thinks Halo 5 is going to magically cause the Xbox DONE to outsell the PS4 then the entire Xbox fanbase truly is delusional. Do you even understand that the PS4 has a 12 million unit lead over the Xbox??? Unless you’re trying to claim that Halo 5 is going to move 12 million consoles by itself then the obvious answer is no, Halo 5 isn’t going to stop the PS4 from completely destroying the Xbone.

Halo 5 is a mediocre game, nothing more. Metacritic is proof enough of this. The fact that a cheap, rushed, mediocre game like that is breaking sales records is testament to how unbelievably poor the rest of the Xbox’s games lineup is.

Halo 5 is not the solution for Microsoft, it’s actually part of their biggest problem. Microsoft have relied too long on low – quality shovelware franchises like Halo, Gears and Forza and now they’re paying the price as consumers are choosing the PS4, which has a FAR superior selection of exclusive games to play. Games like Halo, Forza and Gears are the very reson WHY the PS4 is so far ahead of the Xbox. Because consumers are sick of Microsoft farting out the same cheap shovelware every 12 months so instead they all move to the console which is actually offering exclusive games that are WORTH playing.

    • Aww… someone’s a little butthurt.
      Want some salt?

  3. So it’s breaking sales records huh? Shall we “Hunt the Truth”….What’s the sales number to date of Halo 5? The numbers this Halo fanboy is talking about is Halo 5 sales combined with hardware to include bundles it also includes anything else related to Halo added all together and Microsoft calls it “the biggest launch in XBOX ONE history”. So to say Halo 5 outsold any orther Halo game or is breaking records is more than misleading in fact most would call it a lie. They didn’t combined anything with any other Halo launch, they didn’t need to they just released the total game sales anf they were impressive but not so with Halo 5 and that’s something they won’t do or can’t do now.

    • Downplay all you want.
Fact is, halo 5 is a huge success.
Online is superb and servers are downright silky smooth.
Fans are pretty happy as well.

      • The sensible fans are complaining about the mediocre SP and the MP userbase will move to COD in a few days.

Crawl back to your gutter, GameChanger87. :^)

      • I’m not saying Halo 5 is not a success I’m saying it’s the worst selling Halo outside of Halo Wars and Halo Spartan and that’s what makes Halo 5 record breaking and its record breaking for the wrong reasons. Also I’m not sure the “Fans are pretty happy as well” with a Medacritic score user score of 6.6 that’s not screaming Happy, Happy!

  4. Halo 5 launched like a BEAST! $400 million in first week! Sayyyyy whatttt?!?

As for all the comments laughing and shining there PS4 fanboy stars… WHO CARES about catching up, pass, or even have the notion of out selling Sony… how about let all the suits and board members worry about the sales, numbers, revenue, P&L…

I’m a consumer… not a cheerleader for any corporations. Let’s just play our games and enjoy what gaming is: our kick ass entertaining hobby!!

  5. Fanboys on both sides are so silly. Halo has been the strongest exclusive franchise for Microsoft for a long time now. Microsoft exclusives have sold better than Sony’s going back to the PS3/360 era. All that being said, it is doubtful that Halo 5 is selling more than Halo 3/4 did. Halo 3 was the juggernaut of the era. When Halo 4 was released, it was the end of a generation on 360 so the amount of consoles out in the wild was at its peak. There are much less Xbox One consoles out there compared to when H4 was released on 360 and Halo isn’t known as the juggernaut it once was thanks to Reach/4. So of course Halo 5 sales are not breaking records from a unit perspective right now and already. That doesn’t mean it can’t have one of the strongest communities on any gaming platform. Time will tell what Halo 5’s fate is. Lets hope its one of longevity. I’ll be going back and forth between Halo and Battlefront on PS4.

  6. Haha, ignore all the hate.
Halo 5 and Xbox one are awesome.
    Glad for the success.
