Why Battlefront Could Be The Biggest FPS That The 8th Generation Of Gaming Has Seen

Back at E3, we saw stunning footage of the new Star Wars: Battlefront game. Upon reveal, the footage went viral and the fan base went absolutely nuts. Who would have thought that after 10 years of no content such a small franchise would cause so much hype with a new reveal? The hype was so big that I believe Battlefront has the potential to become the biggest FPS the 8th generation of gaming has ever seen.

It could be the fact that Battlefront doesn’t have a yearly release like other FPS games do. Games like Call of Duty have a new game coming out each year, but I actually think the marketing technique is worse than that of Battlefront. In my opinion, when I play a new Call of Duty game, I feel like I’m playing an updated version of older Call of Duty games. Many people feel this way, and it’s for reasons like this that Call of Duty feels like it’s starting to get old. In Battlefront’s case, the creators are doing just the opposite – not releasing a single game in ten years. However, this is actually good because all of this hype build up over time and then just explodes when a new game is finally revealed. Call of Duty is a popular game, but the hype seems to sort of get let down more and more each year because we’re seeing the same thing over and over again. I’m making all these references to Call of Duty because it’s the current king of FPS.

It’s not just the lack of content from Battlefront that will be enough to make it the biggest FPS of this generation of gaming, but it also will be the new content that it has to bring forward. Obviously, I’m referring to Battlefront not giving us the same content they gave us ten years ago, but that’s very highly unlikely to happen. Rather, I’m referring more to the idea that this new Battlefront game has to stand out from other FPS games. If people get the same, generic FPS game that doesn’t have any unique features to it, it’s not going to go well for sales.

I see a lot of potential in Battlefront that I think the creators will take advantage of. I also see a lot of potential to bring on new players who have not yet played the game. Because of this, I think Battlefront can potentially become the biggest FPS of the 8th generation of gaming. The game was already great in its debut, but since 10 whole years have passed, Battlefront essentially has a fresh start and they can take the game in any direction and bring on loads of new content with updated graphics and everything. For many people including myself, November 17th can’t come soon enough.
