It’s only the first of may and while we’re all still downloading the first batch of May’s GWG (Defense Grid 2 and GRID 2) or just starting to play them, it’s hard not to look forward to what will be coming up next and while this will be based purely on predictions, we’ll be sure to update this article here with any updates on the June GWG lineup so be sure to bookmark it. Since June will be the big E3 month, it makes sense that Microsoft will want to make a big splash with their GWG lineup, similar to how they did with April’s lineup. Without further ado, let’s get right into the predictions.
Forza Motorsport 5
Forza Motorsport 5 is the sixth installment of the Forza Motorsport series. It was announced on May 21, 2013 during the Xbox One reveal. It is first title in the series to feature laser-scanned race tracks, as well as open-wheel racing cars from fourth generation Dallara IndyCars and classic Formula One cars. Forza Motorsport 6 released late last year and it seems better late than never to give away Forza 5 through Games with Gold without running the risk of it eating into Forza 6 sales, since it’s been out for a fair while now.
Forza Motorsport 5 is your ultimate car fantasy, only possible on Xbox One. Featuring an entirely new graphics engine, 16-player multiplayer, cloud-powered gameplay, and hundreds of perfectly recreated cars, Forza Motorsport 5 is where dreams are driven.
Ryse: Son of Rome
Ryse: Son of Rome plunges you into the chaos and depravity of the late Roman Empire. The game tells the story of Marius Titus who witnesses the murder of his family at the hands of barbarians. Seeking revenge, Marius must embark on a perilous journey of revenge, betrayal, and divine intervention. He joins the Roman army in Britannia and quickly rises through the ranks to become a General. As his war against the barbarians escalates, his quest unravels: to find his vengeance, he has to return to Rome. As Marius, you’ll engage in brutal combat and lead your forces into massive battles to save Rome from threats to its very existence.
E3 is the biggest even of the year and considering these were launch games when the Xbox One first released in 2013, it makes sense now more than ever to finally make a big splash if this game will indeed be a part of the June GwG lineup. Ryse is a graphical beauty on the Xbox One and is even today still one of the most beautiful games on the current generation of consoles. It didn’t get received all that well by critics but as a GWG game, who can really pass up on it?
Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising 3 is a 2013 open world survival horror beat ’em up video game. It is developed by Capcom Vancouver and published by Microsoft. The game was released as a launch title for the Xbox One platform on November 22, 2013; a Microsoft Windows port published by Capcom was released on September 5, 2014. It was announced as an Xbox One exclusive launch title during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference on June 10, 2013. Dead Rising 3 was in my opinion the best launch game for the Xbox One. While I appreciated the visual beauty of Ryse, it was Dead Rising 3 that I had the most fun with and I was desperate to show my friends. With literally hundreds of unique zombies on the screen at a time and a wide range of crazy customized weapons/vehicles, it was a very fun game indeed. This could be a game offered with GWG next month since it is a launch title and Microsoft may want to get back some of the momentum it had going with April’s lineup with a AAA title. With rumours that we may get a Dead Rising 4 announcement at E3, it’d be perfect timing too. I mean, how cool would a “Here’s a first look at Dead Rising 4 and Dead Rising 3 is available for free through GWG right now” moment be? Let’s hope it happens!
Watch Dogss an open world action-adventure third-person shooter stealth video game developed and published by Ubisoft. It was released worldwide on 27 May 2014 and is infamous for the downgrade scandal that surrounded the game and resulted in a negative public reception. So, why does this have a chance of coming to Games with Gold in June? Well, it’s all but confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 will be making an appearance at E3 this year and what better way to get people hyped for a sequel than to give away the original through GwG and possibly PS+ too? It will certainly go a long way in getting back some of the good will that the original lost after its downgrade debacle.
