Scalebound is an Xbox One exclusive title that was first revealed at E3 2014. The sci-fi/fantasy game is the work of Platinum Games, the team behind titles like MadWorld, the Bayonetta series, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Game designer and director Hideki Kamiya, who’s credits include Resident Evil and Devil May Cry
Sadly, the game was delayed to 2017 as confirmed at the turn of the year by Platinum Games claimed that the extended deadline was necessary in order to “deliver on our ambitious vision.” Platinum Games explained that the additional development time will “[help us] bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”
Thanks to a store listing by a British retailer, Base, we may now have learned the release date of the highly anticipated Xbox title. Keep in mind that Base also leaked the heavily rumoured release date for the Skyrim remaster or ‘definitive edition’ which could add weight to the veracity of this leak.
Of course, there’s the possibility that this could be a placeholder date but there’s reason to doubt that since other confirmed 2017 titles have a standard placeholder date of 31/12/2016. For example:
Other 2017 games such as Kingdom Hearts 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect: Andromeda all have this specific placeholder date. This might mean that Scalebound will have a U.S/Canadian release date of the 28th of March to launch on the Tuesday of the same week and could launch on the 31st in the UK. The 31st of March is also a Friday which is when video games almost always release on in the UK.
