Predictions For the July 2016 PlayStation Plus Lineup on PlayStation 4

We’re almost halfway through June so it’s time to start making some predictions for what games we might see go free on PS4 in the July 2016 PlayStation Plus lineup. This month Sony gave probably the biggest AAA game away to date on PS4 in NBA 2K16. This is a game that has remained in the top 10 sales charts since it launched late in late 2015 and it still retails for $30+. This opens the door to many other possible AAA games coming to PlayStation Plus now so let’s make some predictions.

1. Watch Dogs

Yes I’m including this one again as it’s still one of the most likely games that would be included. The sequel Watch Dogs 2 has officially been announced now prior to E3 2016 so what better way to help build some hype than by giving the original away for free. It will give those who haven’t played it yet a slight idea of what the upcoming sequel will play like and hopefully get them interested.

2. The Evil Within

I’m including this for a few reasons. One of them being that it was free on PlayStation Plus in Japan this month. While Japan usually gets games that we don’t it could be possible that we get the game as well as we are nearing almost two years since it’s been out. A possible sequel could be announced by Bethesda at E3 2016 as well if rumors are to be believed. The Evil Within is a great survival horror game and one that many people still haven’t gotten to play. If a sequel does happen it’s a good way to build some hype and Bethesda could still make some money on DLC sales of the game.

3. Killzone Shadow Fall

Killzone Shadow Fall once again makes the list as I think it’s past time that we start getting some of the PS4 launch titles on Plus. It’s been out almost three years now and most recently was on sale for $5 digitally on the PlayStation Store which landed it in the top 10 sales chart on PSN in the month of May. You can’t go much lower than $5 other than make it free and hopefully Sony will do that. It’s a very underrated game and there is still a community who plays it online.

4. LittleBigPlanet 3

Another first party title I think could make the lineup is LittleBigPlanet 3. While it wasn’t viewed by many to be near as good as the first two it was still a good game and one that is still getting new content here almost two years since it released. Every other LittleBigPlanet game has been free on PlayStation Plus at some point or another so it would be nice to see Sackboy being downloaded on more people’s PS4s. The game has so much DLC content out that Sony would be likely to still make money during that month on sales of the level kits, costumes, etc.

5. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition

So I’m including this one because it’s been free on pretty much every system by now. The original Tomb Raider has been free on PS3 and Xbox 360 while this remaster was free on Xbox One last year. For that reason maybe Sony won’t include it but I think it’s possible. Microsoft made a deal to give it away for free on Xbox One to help build hype for Rise of the Tomb Raiders release late last year. Sony could do the same thing as Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch on PS4 later this year. It’s a great game and one I’m sure even those who played the original version would be interested in playing again.

So those are my predictions for the July 2016 PlayStation Plus lineup. In a couple weeks we’ll find out for sure if any of them make the list but in the meantime tell us what you think of the games above and tell us what you would like to see in the lineup in July.

Have your say!

  1. Chances of Dishonored Definitive Edition making an appearance, if not in July then sometime before Dishonored 2 releases? I think it’s a cert.
