Electronic Arts held their Q1 Fiscal Year 2017 earnings call recently, CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that more than 11.5 million people played Battlefield games during the quarter (11 million on Battlefield 4 alone), while more than 6.6 million people played Star Wars Battlefront.
Looking ahead to two of EA’s biggest titles this year and two of the biggest games from any publisher, Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that they expect just under 15 million sold for Battlefield 1 and 10 million for Titanfall 2; calling the two an “unstoppable combination”
“Q1 was a great quarter for Electronic Arts with amazing engagement in our global communities. EA is leading our industry through innovation, with more of our biggest games powered by Frostbite, breakthrough EA SPORTS titles on console and mobile, and the unstoppable combination of Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 coming this holiday. We’re looking forward to connecting more players around the world to each other through the games they love to play.”
Considering the buzz surrounding Battlefield 1 compared to the immense dislike for Call of Duty 2016 combined with the fact that Titanfall 2 is going fully multi-platform; we think EA might be right on this one.
