The leak for the upgraded version of the PS4, currently codenamed Neo doesn’t appear to be as severe as the PS4 Slim leaks but employees of the company Foxconn have shared sketches on a Chinese forum blog called A9VG. In case you don’t know, Foxconn is a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company that has worked on many consoles/handheld devices in the past.
If this sketch is accurate, then some users have likened the design to a “sandwich.” Naturally, it would be assumed to be larger in size considering the hardware is getting a fairly significant bump compared to the OG PS4 but if it uses a smaller SoC or FinFET then some might have hoped to see it retain the size of the OG PS4 or be only slightly larger.
If size/weight really is important to you, rumors point to Sony planning to reveal a PS4 Slim at the PlayStation meeting on September 7 which is directed at the casual market and shows quite a slimmed down piece of kit compared to the OG PS4. However, the Slim is reported to have no 4K/HDR compatibility and even its design has been criticized.
As soon as more sketches, information or other leaks come in, ThisGenGaming will provide you with the latest on this story.
