These Five Video Games Are Some Of The Best That 2016 Had To Offer

So, with 2016 coming to a close, we have seen a lot of great games released this year. Now, although this article is my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own, we will be covering the top 5 games of 2016.

1. Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 took a completely different route in the series compared to all the other Battlefield games. This year, DICE decided to move away from the futuristic route which games have been going recently and went back in time. The game was set around the World War 1, which instantly made it a contestant for one of the greatest games of the year, if not the best. As always, DICE put out a great single player campaign, however I don’t think it was the best Battlefield campaign (Battlefield 3 was my favorite.) As usual, multiplayer is multiplayer. Large scale maps with support of 64 vs 64 in some game modes. For me, Battlefield’s multiplayer isn’t why I would buy the game, but it gives you a few extra hours of fun. DICE truly recreated what we would imagine World War 1 to be, bringing us combat and weapons you would see in that era. Battlefield 1 is personally the greatest game we have seen this year.

2. Overwatch

Overwatch is one of the best multiplayer only games 2016 saw released. Overwatch offered us a lot of content and endless hours of fun. Overwatch continues to offer new and free DLC, constantly releasing new DLC the further into the game lifetime we go. Overwatch has a lot of different characters to play as, each one offering us a different play style. This made the game one of my favorites released this year. Overwatch also has a variety of maps, but it personally lacked game modes. Overwatch presonally is easily the second greatest game we saw this year

3. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was one of the best single-player games that was released this year. Following on from the first one, it was set a few years later on. It saw the return of Adam Jenson (the main character), but with new technology and new body augmentations. Although it never received very good ratings, it was one of my favorite games to play through, and I felt like I could play more than once. There isn’t much more to say about this game, it was just all round a great game in my opinion. I wish I could have listed this higher, but unfortunately there is other games which I preferred to play more, which is why this received third place.

4. Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 was one of those games which never got the reception it should have. EA released it at such an awkward time, with it being released around 1/2 weeks after Batttlefield 1 and 1/2 weeks before Infinite Warfare. This caused the sales of the game to be quite low. However, I thought that Titanfall 2 was much better than the first. This was mainly due to it featuring a campaign. The campaign wasn’t as amazing as I wasn’t expecting it to be, but it was something additional to the game. I found that the multiplayer was also much better than it was in the first one. Even though there is a lot of things that are very similar in multiplayer to the first one, if not the same, multiplayer was a much more enjoyable experience. The campaign I found I could play through multiple times, and the multiplayer I felt that I could play for hours on end. The game is only towards the start of its life cycle, meaning that we can see a lot of DLC coming out for it in the future. This game offered an amazing experience, but unfortunately it wasn’t good enough to put it any higher than fourth.

5. Quantum Break

Quantum Break offered one of the best single-player experiences of 2016. It offered an amazing combat system, even though it wasn’t all about the combat. The mini “TV series” they included into the game offered more content and more fun. The game was fun and had a good length to it, but I found it lacked content. I think the game would have been greatly improved if they included extra missions as free DLC. This would have gave us more content, and I think I would have had a much better experience.

So those are what I think the top 5 games of 2016 are. The positions are based off my own personal opinion and based off my experience with the game. Please let us know what your Top 5 games of 2016 are in the comments below.

Have your say!
