Xbox One has been said to not have a strong 2017 line up, we disagree as there are many good titles coming out that you can only play on the Xbox One if you’re a console gamer. Here is a rundown of the most popular exclusive games coming to Xbox One in 2017.
Halo Wars 2
Microsoft has once again ventured back to the well of Halo for Halo Wars 2. The first Halo Wars was a cult hit which introduced the Halo Universe into a new genre as an RTS and is widely considered the best RTS to have ever been made for a console. This sequel which will be developed by Creative Assembly with help from 343 Industries is set to release in February 2017.
State of Decay 2
State of Decay was an independent Xbox Live Arcade game that saw great success with its sales on Steam and Xbox 360. The ground swell around this game led to its commercial success even though there was little to no money spent on marketing. After the game’s popularity, Microsoft and the developer Undead Labs partnered to make this game a series exclusive to Microsoft. The sequel is going to be available for both Windows 10 and Xbox one and features co-op multiplayer as you lead your community during the zombie outbreak.
Forza is the long standing racing series for Xbox fans and is known for pushing the envelope of graphics and performance while maintaining the customizability of cars that car enthusiasts crave. Unlike the more arcade, vista focused Horizon spin –off series, Forza proper focuses on the simulation of races and the great tracks they are held on. This years release would be the 7th in the series.
Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves caught everyone’s attention at E3 and has impressed with its style and fun gameplay. Developed by Rare, Sea of Thieves is an online game where you and your friends form a band of pirates and explore the open sea looking for treasure and victims. With full-on ship battles and an open world multiplayer environment, this game looks to make your pirating dreams come true.
Phantom Dust is a pseudo-card-based action/strategy game in which the player collects and takes missions to attempt to discover why Earth is in the condition it is. Players construct “arsenals” (similar to decks of cards) from their acquired skills and then use them to battle against other players. The game incorporates strategy and action elements in to a game that requires both mental and reflexive skill, and remains a cult hit. The re-release, to be developed by Code Mystics will use the original graphics and other assets updated for better resolution, and improve support for Xbox Live. The game will also run on Windows 10 as part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
