It looks like Nintendo won’t be selling the Wii U version of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild on their own store. We searched the store thoroughly, first enter the game’s title in the search and all that would show up was the two version you can buy on the Switch.
We then checked Wii U’s coming soon section, and there’s currently no games there for pre-order.
And it only looks like the Nintendo Switch version of the game is being advertised on the store.
It’s a very strange decision for Nintendo to not even sell their own game on their own store even if it is the less powerful version. Could this be Nintendo showing that they want to distance themselves from the Wii U even before the Switch has even released? Nintendo had originally said all the way back in May 2016 that the Nintendo Switch (Nintendo NX at the time) would not be replacing the Wii U, and it looks like it has already happened.
This isn’t to say that the Wii U version won’t be available on the store in the future, but it does show there’s no rush at all by Nintendo to put up pre-orders.
Do you think this is Nintendo’s way of pushing the Wii U away with the impending release of the Switch? Let us know in the comment
