Smash Bros For The Nintendo Switch May Have Just Been Confirmed

Nintendo Of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé may have just confirmed that Smash Bros is coming to the Nintendo Switch which has been heavily rumored for the last few months. During an interview with Time Reggie was asked “Thinking about online gamer profiles and achievements and legacy content purchased online, will Switch include a meta layer that follows players around and lets them keep those purchases?”

Reggie responded with the following

So our overall proposition will not look the same as our competitors. But what we will do, is we will recognize what consumers like about our competitors, we will look to do it in a way that has a Nintendo flair to it. And we will look to make sure that in the end, we’ve got this robust, online environment that not only works well for our games, like Splatoon and Mario Kart and Smash Bros., but that also works great for our third party developers.

As you can say at the end of the answer, Reggie mentioned Smash Bros when discussing games for the Switch online service. Now this doesn’t confirm anything, but it’s a very positive sign that Smash Bros is coming to the Switch. Rumors currently point towards an E3 2017 announcement so all we can do now is wait for an official announcement but it’s looking good.

  1. He had to bring up Smash Brothers in an answer about online for us to believe it will happen one day? I mean that’s like saying “Mario is coming to Switch”. Duh! If anything Nintendo will probably attempt to screw us all over and begin charging for online on the Wii U and 3DS once the Switch servers go live.
