Spring has sprung; the birds are chirping, the buds are budding, and gamers are pulling closed their curtains complaining about glare as a new round of backwards compatibility games are released. E3 is nearly here, and the marketing engines are purring as we round the bend of April, looking forward into May. In March alone, 19 games were put on the backwards compatibility list. That is a staggering number now available for gamers to play on their Xbox Ones.
Scorpio’s tech specs we’re just officially announced, check out our stories on that, and along with that we learned that everything you can play on the One can also be played on Scorpio. Yes, even backwards compatibility games. So what will Microsoft want to remind us of owning on the eve of E3 and a new more powerful console to play on? Here are my predictions:
Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
I’ll let you gather yourself…That’s right folks, the time has finally come. Black Ops 2 is coming to backwards compatibility very, very soon. Why do I think this? Well the just announced Spring sales on Xbox Live include, you guessed it, Black Ops 2 for 360. Why else would they do this? Why would they even dare mention Black Ops 2 without it being a backwards compatibility title imenently? They wouldn’t. They couldn’t. Look at anything Major Nelson has said over the last few years, and there will be someone saying something about Black Ops 2. E3 is coming…Looking on the horizon, and what better way to drum up support than to give the teeming masses what they want, no, NEED!
Borderlands: The Pre Sequel
Believe it or not, this isn’t on backwards compatibility yet. Seems likely that they will have information on Borderlands 3 at e3 this year, so I am hoping that those people who got 2 on the 360 will be able to now play it on the Xbox One. They have already released an updated version and have likely gotten all the sales they would get out of the one for Xbox One, so releasing the ability for those that owned The Pre-Sequel on 360 to play it again on the eve of Borderlands 3 news seems plausible.
I wrote about this one before in my predictions for 2017 BC games, but I think that now is the time to start the talk about the Syberia series since the third one is coming out soon. Soon meaning April 20th, 2017. So it makes sense to let people catch up on the previous game, possibly this will be a Games with Gold title in May as well.
Those are three games I think we will see very soon come to backwards compatibility, possibly earlier than May since Black Ops 2 was featured in the April 11-17th spring sale…just tossing that out there. Enjoy!
