PlayStation’s Shawn Layden Says 2018 Games Coming in First Half of the Year

Something many people were disappointed with in PlayStation’s E3 2017 Press Conference was the lack of dates for the upcoming exclusive titles. Games such as God of War, Spider Man, Shadow of the Colossus and more simply said 2018 or Early 2018. However it seems like you can probably expect to be playing all of these games sooner rather than later according to Shawn Layden.

In a recent interview with Telegraph Shawn Layden had this to say regarding their 2018 lineup:

“And that’s the nature of game development. No, I feel the lineup we have coming into the holidays this year – and GT will launch in the fall – I don’t know if you got to go to the pre-show [hands on event for media]? Well GT was heavily represented there on the floor. We think there is a lot of attention around that title from our company. And the stuff coming in 2018, all of that is coming in the first half of the year, so. Is it in the next 12 to 13 months? Most likely. So.”

So it seems that God of War, Spider Man and Shadow of the Colossus will be released between January and June 2018 which makes perfect sense to me. I personally saw no reason for any of these titles to come out in 2017 as Sony as already dominated the first half of this year with exclusives and they have many more still on the way such as Uncharted, Knack 2, Everybody’s Golf, GT Sport, Ni No Kuni 2, Hellblade, and many VR titles.

The only question marks are Days Gone and Detroit: Become Human both of which didn’t have any kind of date put on them. They too could release in 2018 but we will have to wait and see. Let us know in the comments if you’re excited to play these upcoming games.

Have your say!

  1. I am looking forward to play these upcoming exclusive titles

  2. I doubt Spider-Man will come out before June 2018. More like holiday 2018. God of War am looking forward to in 1st half of 2018 though. I expected holiday 2017 for that one, considering they said the game was playable from start to finish at the start of the year.

    • A game being playable from start to finish means it is in alpha. Most games generally still take another year or more from that point on to balance, polish, and tune things. Also they are straight up telling you that Spider man will be out by this time next year. No chance it’s Holiday 2018.

      • Like I said, I’ll believe it when I see it. There hasn’t been one exclusive that Sony hasn’t delayed at least once this gen so far.

        • Actually there have been several exclusives that haven’t been delayed. MLB the Show always hits it’s date, Crash and Wipeout both made their date as well Knack 2 and Uncharted The Lost Legacy. LittleBigPlanet 3 also hit its date. Been several more too.

          • MLB is the same exact game every year, lol. And none of those other titles are exactly AAA except Lost Legacy, and even then, it’s a DLC, not a full game…

          • Not AAA according to who? You? Lol Knack 2 is just as much a AAA title as Ratchet and Clank is. Wipeout is one of the best looking games on the PS4 currently. Uncharted The Lost Legacy is just as long as the first or second Uncharted game. Btw DLC requires another game to play. I can go download or buy The Lost Legacy by itself and play it. Don’t even try to nitpick your way into being right clown.

          • Says a lot about your standards, lol. I consider all of those AA not AAA. Try again next time.

          • Says more about how ignorant you are. You’re argument wasn’t even about AAA or whatever. It was about you saying Sony has delayed every game. Now that you were proven wrong you tried to spin it into something else. You’re pathetic.

          • lol, whatever helps you sleep at night. Enjoy Knack 2, it’s definitely a blockbuster hahaha

          • It will probably be a good game. Not sure why you’re hoping it’s bad.
