It Looks Very Likely That Every Future Rockstar Games Release Will Have Some Kind Of GTA Online Style Mode

During the latest quarterly conference call for Take Two Interactive, a question was asked regarding if there were any more updates for Red Dead Redemption 2, which was quickly denied but there was an interesting responsive after the initial response of there not being any news for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick said “Rockstar Games have said that there will be an online component” and that Take Two as a company have said that their hope and expectations are that “all our significant releases offer consumers an opportunity to stay engaged after the initial release” which is in reference to Grand Theft Auto Online along with the upcoming online component for Red Dead Redemption 2 which could mean that significant Rockstar Games releases will have some kind of GTA Online style mode with micro-transactions from now on.

Zelnick continued by saying “it’s our belief if you surprise, delight, and excite consumers then monetization can’t be far behind, and that’s been our experience” once again this was a clear reference to GTA Online’s use of monetization through microtransactions with Shark Cards that seem to always spike when there’s a new GTA Online content update. It seems Take Two feel these content updates have to “surprise, delight, and excite consumers” first to make GTA Online’s continued monetization highly profitable.
