PlayStation Plus December 2017 Predictions

If I had to say so myself 2017 may be the best year yet for PlayStation Plus members on PS4. Over the course of this year we’ve seen Sony shift to offering more AAA titles on the service compared to previous years. PS4 owners have gotten titles such as Just Cause 3, Until Dawn, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and many more for free over the past few months. Sony is still offering some of the better indie titles as well such as Amnesia Collection, Life is Strange and Strike Vector EX.

With December coming up Sony has one more chance to put a great stamp on what has been a pretty good year for the service. Let’s take a look at some possible titles.

1. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Out of all of the third party publishers out there I think Ubisoft is probably the one that has offered the most games for free. We’ve seen them put their titles on PlayStation Plus and Games with Gold for years now. So it isn’t out of the realm of possibility we might see another one in December. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was the last entry in the franchise before it took a break and led to the newly released Assassin’s Creed Origins. Syndicate was actually a pretty great game but many skipped it either due to franchise fatigue or due to how bad Assassin’s Creed Unity was at launch. More people should experience the story in Syndicate as it was really good. Hopefully we see it on the Plus service soon.

2. Far Cry 4

Far Cry 5 is on the way in early 2018 and what better way to build excitement than to include Far Cry 4 in the PlayStation Plus lineup. It has a huge open world to explore with lots to do but even better it has co-op features for PlayStation Plus members to play together on. With it being a Ubisoft title you know that makes it a good chance that we could see it in the lineup.

3. Salt and Sanctuary

Salt and Sanctuary is another one of those popular indie games that PlayStation will probably want to expose to more people. The game was part of the PlayStation Store Launch Party lineup  in Spring 2016 along with five other games. Three of those games have now been free on Plus over the past few months. The game is also Cross-Buy on Vita/PS4 and we know how Sony likes to include those type of titles on PlayStation Plus. I think Sony will keep with this trend and offer Salt and Sanctuary from Ska Studios for free. If you don’t know about the game it’s basically like a 2D Dark Souls like game. If you’re a fan of those type of games then you’ll love Salt and Sanctuary. If you want to know more about it you can read the review I did of it last year here.

4. Thumper

Thumper

Thumper is one of my favorite games that came out in 2016 and I think it would be awesome to give more players the chance to experience it. Thumper is a rhythm action/violence game where you guide a space beetle through treacherous worlds at blazing speeds all accompanied by a great soundtrack and psychedelic visuals. Not only is Thumper great on the PS4 but it’s even better on PlayStation VR. Sony has started offering more VR titles on the service in recent months with bonus games like Until Dawn or games that work on PS4 and PSVR like Bound. Thumper has won many awards since it came out in October of 2016 so if you see this in the PS+ lineup next month don’t pass on it.

Have your say!

  1. Thumper would be high up on my list as well! and I haven’t even played it (but the gameplay looks right up my Aaero-loving alley)

  2. Last of us remastered to finish the year.
