Publisher THQ Nordic has released their interim financial results for 2018 and they show that the company had a very successful year in 2018.
For the 12 months ending December 31, the company had net sales of $447.6 million which was up 713% year-on-year from $55.1 million. A big part of the reason for the increase was due to the acquisition of Koch Media/Deep Silver in February 2018.
Another big reason for the year-on-year increase was due to a strong fourth quarter which saw game sales amass $59.9 million, which was more than any of the other three quarters in 2018.
CEO Lars Wingefors said that the last three months of 2018 was “a stable quarter with continued growth” and said that Darksiders 3 was the reason for much of that success. Darksiders 3 both performed to their expectations and recouped all the costs of development and marketing. The game will get several DLC add-ons in 2019 to “give the game a further boost” and Darksiders is firmly established as “one of the group’s key IPs.”
He also mentioned that the publisher has 77 games under development and 48 of them are still waiting to be announced, some of which will release in 2019.
