Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball – Volume 5 Review – PlayStation 4

Is one of the things on your holiday wish list a brand new table pack for Pinball FX3? If so then you’re in luck as Zen Studios has recently released the Williams Pinball – Volume 5 table set for their hit Pinball game. While their last table pack for the game included less tables than usual this one is a return to form adding three classic Williams and Bally tables. Are they worth the price of admission?

Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball - Volume 5

This pack’s three tables include Cirqus Valtaire, Tales of the Arabian Nights, and No Good Gofers. As you might expect you can play all three of them in the original state they were released in or you can play them with the Zen touch ups and bear witness to all the new fancy visuals and upgrades. It’s great that you can choose between these in case you played the actual versions of these tables in real life and have nostalgia for the original versions. I played each of the tables in both forms to see what they were like but ended up spending most of my time with the updated visuals.

Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball - Volume 5

Each of the tables plays great despite my rather poor pinball skills. They all have great designs to them and fun missions to try to complete. Cirqus Voltaire will have you trying to figure out how to complete its various circus acts while Tales of the Arabian Nights will let you interact with a genie and a lamp. No Good Gofers reminded me of that movie Caddyshack as the table features a gofer who has a bunch of cool animations using a golf club. You’ll use the ramps a lot on this table and at times can make use of a special ramp to try and score a hole-in-one shot. From a skill point level I found all three provided a pretty good challenge but again my pinball skills aren’t exactly the best which is why the ball kept falling out of play regularly on me.

Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball - Volume 5

Of course with all three of these tables being part of the Pinball FX3 experience you naturally get all that that entails as well. That means that you get a very slick menu interface to buy and select them from, options to view the online leaderboards and compete against others, and the ability to earn XP as you play and level up and thus unlock things like multipliers. It’s a great framework that Zen has already built so naturally any table released is going to have the benefit of having all of this cool stuff to interact with.

Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball - Volume 5

The Williams Pinball Pack Volume 5 is another great set of additions to the overall Pinball FX3 experience. For just $10 you are getting three great, classic tables that you can experience faithfully or with fancy, upgraded visuals. They are challenging but if you’re a fan of Pinball FX3 already then you’re probably OK with that.

*Pinball FX3: Williams Pinball – Volume 5 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Reviewed on a PS4 Pro. Review copy provided by the publisher for this review.
