Boy oh boy the rumours are true and it looks like we’ll be getting Modern Warfare 2 campaign remastered very shortly indeed. The latest patch to 2019’s Modern Warefare, update 1.18, released on March 26 at 11PM PT time on PS4, PC, and Xbox One included some yet-to-be-announced files in the form of artwork for the heavily rumoured Modern Warfare 2 Remaster.
The artwork was discovered by PC data miners and posted to the r/ModernWarfare reddit page.
A leaked description reads ‘Purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered and receive the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle.’
Modern Warfare 2 originally released back in 2009 and is considered by the Call of Duty community at large to be one of the best entries in the long-running franchise.
The game’s campaign follows the Task Force 141, a special forces unit fronted by Captain Soap MacTavish, as they hunt Vladimir Makarov, leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party, and the United States Army Rangers, who are defending the country from a Russian invasion. The game’s main playable characters are Sergeant Gary “Roach” Sanderson, of the 141, and Private James Ramirez, of the Army Rangers, with Captain MacTavish becoming playable later in the campaign. An expansive multiplayer mode is featured in the game, with several new features and modes that were not seen in its predecessor.
As of yet, there is no word on the multiplayer portion of the game receiving the remastered treatment. The leaked game files only point to a campaign remaster at the time of writing.
Are you looking forward to enjoying Modern Warfare 2 all over again?
