The UK weekly retail video game sales chart for last week is in and to no one’s surprise Final Fantasy VII Remake from Square Enix took the top spot.
The highly anticipated game released on PlayStation 4 last week and took the No.1 spot despite the fact that most retailers are closed due to COVID-19. The pandemic did affect sales though as the remake only sold around half of what Final Fantasy XV did back in 2016. Now that game was on multiple platforms but with the current situation in the world and the rise of digital sales we just don’t know how well Final Fantasy VII Remake did without that other data.
Total boxed video game sales did increase again on the week with total sales being up by 2% compared to the week prior. Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to perform well while Resident Evil 3 fell from No.2 to No.7. You can see the full top ten for the week below.
