How to Play RDR2 Blackjack
Your goal in blackjack is to beat the dealer by reaching 21 with the cards in your hand, or as close to 21 as you can get. If you go over, you’re bust. If you win, you’ll earn some cash based on the bet you made.
To begin, the dealer will hand out two cards to each player. The cards are dealt face-up so that you can see each player’s hand. The dealer’s hand is different, as only one card is shown. The remaining card is hidden until the end of the round. Each player then takes their turn by making one of the following four moves:
- Hit – The dealer will add another card to your hand.
- Stand – Your hand stays as it is, and no further cards are dealt.
- Double Down – This multiplies your current bet by two and also gives you an additional card. You can only double down if you have enough funds available.
- Split – You can choose to split if you receive two cards of the same value. The split will divide your hand into two separate hands, so you’ll need to add extra cash to cover your second bet.
Once each player has made their move, it’s then the dealer’s turn. The dealer’s actions are easily predicted, as they’re always the same. First, the dealer will show their hidden card and tally their hand. If it’s less than 17, the dealer takes another card. When the hand reaches 17 or more, the dealer has to stand.
Next, each player’s hand is scored, and the round comes to an end. Players who received a hand closer to 21 than the dealer win their bet. Additionally, all players win their bet if the dealer busts. If you and the dealer tie, the hand is called a “push,” which means that the round is a wash, and all chips are returned.
