The Last of Us Part II Now Releasing on June 19; Ghost of Tsushima Delayed to July 17

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that The Last of Us Part II from developer Naughty Dog will now release on June 19.

The game was planned to release in May but due to logistic issues with shipping physical copies it was delayed. Story spoilers leaked online over the weekend so perhaps that played a part in the game getting a new date today.

Because The Last of Us Part II is now releasing in June Sony also announced that their other huge PlayStation 4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima, will be getting a small delay. It was planned to launch on June 26 but will now release on July 17.

Here is what Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios head Hermen Hulst had to say in the post on the PlayStation Blog today:

I want to personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these [COVID-19] circumstances. Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months.
