Developer Psyonix has announced that Rocket League will be going free-to-play this summer.
Those who already own Rocket League on any platform will be able to continue playing the game and will still see support for all future updates and features. The game will be removed from Steam but those who own it will be able to still play it and will still get future updates.
The free-to-play version will also bring cross-platform progression to the game allowing players to bring their items, Rocket Pass progress, and Competitive Rank with them to every platform. If you played Rocket League before it goes free-to-play will get some nice bonuses including “Legacy Status.” This includes the following benefits:
- All Rocket League-branded downloadable content released before free-to-play
- “Est. 20XX” title that displays the first year you played Rocket League
- 200-plus Common items upgraded to “Legacy” quality
- Golden Cosmos Boost
- Dieci-Oro Wheels
- Huntress Player Banner
These Legacy items will be granted when the free-to-play version launches. Those how have played the game before his announcement today will get the Faded Cosmos Boost.
