Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Polyphony Digital have announced that Gran Turismo 7 will now be launching on PlayStation 5 in 2022.
The game was announced in June 2020 and given a 2021 release window. Due to COVID however the game is not going to be able to make that launch window and has been delayed. Here is what a PR rep had to say in an interview with GQ: “Gran Turismo 7 has been impacted by COVID-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on Gran Turismo 7‘s release date when available.”
Sony is still expected to launch PlayStation 5 exclusives this year such as Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Horizon: Forbidden West. The next God of War was also given a 2021 release window but no updates have been heard about it.
