Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Launches on PS5 and PS4 on August 20; Iki Island, New Features, and Upgrade Options Detailed

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch Productions have announced Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The game will launch on both platforms at retail and digitally on August 20. Players can get the PS5 version for $70 and the PS4 version for $60. If you owned the base game on the PlayStation 4 already there is some paid upgrade options as well that I’ll detail below.

The Director’s Cut includes a brand-new original story set on the all-new Iki Island. Players will once again control Jin on a new journey featuring new environments, skills, enemies, mini-games, animals, and more. The PlayStation 5 version of the game will include some new features such as lip sync for Japanese voice-overs, Adaptive Trigger and Haptic Feedback DualSense Controller support, faster load times, 3D audio, and 4K resolution and 60FPS support. You’ll also be able to transfer your PlayStation 4 save file over to the PlayStation 5 version.

There will also be a free update coming to all versions that will bring new features like Photo Mode updates, new accessibility options for controller remapping, target lock-on during combat, and the option to hide your quiver during gameplay. The multiplayer mode Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will also be getting new free content in the form of a new mode and more.

Now if you already owned Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation 4 and want to upgrade here are your options:

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4:

  • You can pre-order an upgrade to Director’s Cut on PS4 for $19.99 USD. This upgrade will become available starting on August 20.

Starting on August 20:

  • If you bought Director’s Cut PS4, you’ll be able to upgrade to Director’s Cut PS5 at any time for $9.99 USD
  • You can also upgrade directly (from original Ghost of Tsushima PS4) to Director’s Cut on PS5 for $29.99 USD
