We had heard that Horizon Forbidden West was not going to make its planned 2021 release date and today Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Guerrilla Games made it official.
Horizon Forbidden West has officially been confirmed to be delayed to 2022 and will now officially launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on February 18, 2022. Pre-orders will open next week on September 2.
Here is what game director Mathiis de Jonge had to say on the delay:
“While the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 certainly wasn’t easy, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for their unwavering support. We know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us.”
The team does have a surprise for fans today as they have released a new patch for Horizon Zero Dawn that will allow the game to run at 60FPS on PlayStation 5. This has been one of the most requested things for the team so it’s great to see it finally here.
