The delays keep coming as Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions have announced that their new IP Forspoken is being delayed once again.
Forspoken was going to launch in May this year but was delayed to October 11 a few months ago. Now the game is being delayed once again to January 24, 2023. The team says that all the game elements are complete and development is in its final polishing phase but they decided to make the strategic decision to delay it.
From the statement it appears that this is more of a move to help the game from being overlooked in a busy fall schedule. Square Enix themselves are launching three other games in September and October and with other big-name titles like God of War Ragnarok, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Gotham Knights, and more hitting around that time there was a chance Forspoken could be ignored.
Hopefully the new date will help get more eyes on it when it does launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on January 24.
