More bad news is possibly coming on the Xbox front as The Verge is reporting that the rumored upcoming layoffs possibly include closing Arkane Studios and cancelling Marvel’s Blade.
Xbox is apparently preparing to announce a wave of layoffs next week that could include studios being closed and games being cancelled. Five studios are apparently at risk with the latest being Arkane Studios, makers of Dishonored and the upcoming Marvel’s Blade. The company is apparently trying to sell the studio but also wants to cancel Marvel’s Blade as it was supposed to launch this year but apparently is running behind and over budget and now won’t be ready until late 2027.
The other studios at risk of being shut down include Double Fine Productions, Compulsion Games, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs. It’s a sad situation overall and we can only hope someone wants to step in and keep these studios and games going.
