Rockstar Games released their deep dive video on Grand Theft Auto VI today showing off a ton of gameplay on PlayStation 5 but all of it was apparently running at 30FPS and many want to know if the game will have a 60FPS option.
According to the developer it might not at launch. Head of development Rob Nelson apparently told YouTuber Davy Jones who visited Rockstar North, that GTA 6 is only running at 30fps on console during development. Flow Games reports that the performance range could change in the future, such as after launch, and Nelson said he couldn’t commit to any other specifics on resolution yet.
This wouldn’t be the first time Rockstar has shipped their games a 30fps as GTA5 didn’t get he option to run at 60fps until the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions arrived and Red Dead Redemption II still only runs at 30fps. A PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI could probably run it at 60fps but that port has yet to be announced.
Time will tell but hopefully the option is there at launch or shortly after even if it’s only on the PlayStation 5 Pro. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on November 19.
