METRO Redux Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 29

Deep Silver and developer 4A Games have announced that METRO Redux will be getting a Next-Gen update on October 29.

The update launches a week earlier on PC on October 22 and then will rollout to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 29. Those who already own METRO 2033 Redux and/or METRO Last Light Redux will get a free upgrade.

The update brings visual, performance, and platform enhancements. These include upgraded textures, lighting, shadows, animation, audio and environmental detail, as well as 4K at 60FPS or upscaled 4K at 120FPS on console. On PC it will be 4K with uncapped frame rates.

The Metro franchise has sold 50 million units worldwide and will see the next entry, METRO 2039, arrive in February 2027.

Coinciding with today’s announcement, METRO is also celebrating a major milestone, having now surpassed 50 million sales worldwide. “It has been an incredible journey over the last two decades, and we could not be more proud of what the team has achieved or more grateful to the players who have walked these tunnels with us,” said Jon Bloch, Executive Producer at 4A Games. “Our community has supported us from the very beginning; every milestone we reach belongs to them as much as to us. Returning to where it all began with the Next-Gen Update of METRO Redux – and bringing it to fans free of charge as we did with METRO Exodus – felt like the right way to continue to say thank you.”

For long-time fans, the Next-Gen Update provides the perfect opportunity to return to Artyom’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic adventure, while newcomers can experience the events that shaped one of gaming’s most celebrated narrative-driven FPS series ahead of METRO 2039, the next chapter in the METRO story coming February 4th.

Journey once more into the haunting tunnels of the Moscow Metro with updated visual and performance enhancements designed for modern hardware while preserving the authentic look and feel of the original games. Improvements include enhanced animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, upgraded textures, and refined lighting and shadows – bringing greater depth and atmosphere to the haunting world of METRO.

On console, players will experience true 4K at 60FPS or upscaled 4K at 120FPS, with native support for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Platform-specific features include PSSR support on PlayStation 5 Pro, TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing support on Xbox Series X, and Spatial Audio support on Xbox platforms. With Xbox Handheld and Xbox Play Anywhere support, your journey through the Metro can continue wherever you choose. The update also supports Adaptive Triggers for DualSense controllers and Impulse Triggers for Xbox controllers.

On PC, experience 4K resolution with uncapped frame rates, alongside DLSS and Spatial Audio support. Across all platforms, players will also benefit from a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Full patch notes detailing all technical improvements and platform-specific features will be published alongside each platform launch.

The METRO Redux Next-Gen Update will be available as a free update for all existing owners of METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux.
